Vintage Saturday: a View of the Paddock
This weekend is the U.S. Vintage National Championship at Circuit of the Americas, aka vintage car racing, aka a treasure trove of photography and racing for meeeee. Today I took a walk around the paddock and saw races of various classes, including vintage sports cars, open-wheel and formula cars, and Minis! I thought you would enjoy a lot of the paddock photos, so I am including most of them here. Racing shots will go in a separate post. Don’t forget to click on the photos for larger, more detailed versions!
First car I saw was a Lotus! There were lots of Loti.
Cooper!
The Corvettes made a truly beautiful sound.
Racing Jag-yew-ahr
His and hers. Truly. Note to the men: this is what I want. Not matching recliners. Matching open-wheel race cars.
The Pooper!
See? It’s a Porsche/Cooper mind-meld.
Indeed.
Dear Santa, I would like this for Christmas.
Yum.
Nudder one. Which do you like better? I would have said blue and orange, until I saw the red one in the flesh. Now I’m saying red all the way.
This was not a racer, just a beauty.
Comfortably seats four. Well…
Remember these guys from the British car show? They’re baaaack.
Wasn’t kidding about the Loti.
That was the first twenty minutes or so of my day. So, yes, there will be more. Including racing Minis. I love racing Minis.
Extreme envy. Those are fantastic! Open cockpit racing is the way to go (or at least it was back in 1972 when I was playing with my Hot Wheels sets).
