Vintage Sunday: the Pace Car Edition

A weekend at the races will leave me in a good mood for at least the next week. I really don’t require any sweeteners.  But add a pace car lap to the mix, and I’m pretty much guaranteed to be on a high for the next month. So if you notice me being extra chipper for awhile, please thank Aston Martin of Austin.

I wrote about my recent visit to AMoA to see Bruno Senna’s race car. Their facility is beautiful, the inventory breathtaking, Sonny Morgan (the dealer principal) a true car enthusiast. When I saw AMoA was providing the pace car for the recent U.S. Vintage National Championship races at Circuit of the Americas, I jokingly asked Sonny if he needed a driver – or a passenger. The next day, this happened:

Holy crap.

Turns out I like it when car people call my bluff.

The only shame about the video is that you cannot see how beautiful this Aston Martin Rapide S is, both inside and out. Here’s a picture of me with the Rapide, prior to our lap. Methinks it wins the beauty contest by a mile. And I am perfectly fine with that.

Rapide me

Thank you so much, Sonny and Aston Martin of Austin, for an amazing experience.

Race fans, I’m looking forward to providing you with a photographic tour of the Aston Martin dealership soon!
