F1: Saturday
Short day at the track today, as, believe it or not, Motorista does have real-life responsibilities (such as work), that occasionally require a shift in priorities. Nonetheless, I got to see F1 qualifying and the first Ferrari Challenge race, so it was quite a successful time. The big news is that Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing took the pole and second position, respectively, so it will be a Red Bull lockout at the start line tomorrow. This happens a lot – I was hoping for a little variety. Glad to see Romain Grosjean, of Lotus, in P3.
In Ferrari Challenge, a local Austinite led the race until almost the very end, when his car lost power and he was overtaken by the Lavender Menace (you may remember it from yesterday), which went on to win. I guess purple gives you wings.
Here’s the day that was:
A Lotus out on Qualifying – I think that is Heikki…
Fernando Alonso comes in.
Caterham!
Vettel comes in for a spell…
A Bull – probably Webber.
Ferrari.
Lewis Hamilton goes to the weigh bridge.
Webber returns.
Lewis headed back.
Alonso comes in again.
Lotus!
A Bull.
This is either a Sauber or McLaren car, I think. [Edited – Or neither. It’s Williams. Gee, if I was a real journalist, I’d have to do research BEFORE I publish.]
Some more Bull action.
Go Romain! P3!
Nico Rosberg walks somewhere. Diggin’ the Pumas, Nico.
Earlier, Rosberg was going a little faster…
His teammate, Lewis Hamilton.
Webber keeps coming back!
Return of the Lotus!
Vettel out making his last, and pole-qualifying, run, barely edging his teammate, Webber.
P1, 2, 3! I could have snapped them while they were posing, but thought I would wait until Romain wiped his nose and Mark walked off. Seb looks happy, per usual.
Heading back to the garage.
Will this be the winning car tomorrow?? Go RoGro!
Well…it’s probably this one.
Next up, the first Ferrari Challenge race! Here is your soon-to-be-winner, the Lavender Menace.
I always wish that someone would just bump the back of a COTA Girl (in a non-injurious way). They are annoying.
Part of the lineup. It was a big field!
Up the hill!
The Lavender Menace dominates!
See you tomorrow, race fans!
