Wheels Up

Remember when I mentioned that I would be attending the Detroit Auto Show this year? That was about a month ago, and I was pretty stoked then.

Fast forward to today, two days before the show opens to the press, and I’m about to come undone with anticipation. Detroit in January is the best place to be, bar none. It’s like Disneyland for a five-year-old. And I’m about ready to squeal like one.

We’re wheels up at 9 a.m. tomorrow, and the show opens at 8 a.m. on Monday. The press conference schedule is pretty grueling, but I plan to hit a lot of them. I’ll be tweeting up a symphony, so be sure to check my Twitter feed for all the latest, such as the reveal of the production version of the all-new Ford F-150. And the Corvette C7R. And plenty of other hooliganism.

I’ll try to take some video, too, but I’m not exactly tall, and my auto show shoes don’t provide much lift. We will do the best we can.

I am especially looking forward to meeting up with Jean Jennings and the Jean Knows Cars crew. I have no idea what, if anything, we will do, but I’m pretty content just to be in the same room with them. Seriously, for real.

Don’t worry – I WILL do my journalistic duty, even though I’m an amateur. If I see Mary Barra, I will be sure to accost her and take down every word she says. Which will probably be: “Security!”

Watch this space.
