Cars and Coffee Austin – February 9, 2014
Cars and Coffee – possibly the greatest concept in the history of time. And I don’t even like coffee.
It’s a pretty basic idea – get a bunch of cars and car enthusiasts together for a laid-back, unofficial car show. The event, which originated in California (I think?), is actually franchised out to various locations, and my neck of the woods (Austin, TX) was wise enough to snag a franchise. Sponsored by my friends at John Eagle European, Cars and Coffee Austin takes place the second Sunday of the month at the Oasis on Lake Travis. The setting is beautiful, the road to get there is twisty, and the cars are mahvelous.
Mind you, the show goes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. On a Sunday. I don’t typically start functioning before noon on the weekends. So I may have gotten there a little towards the end today, and I may have missed several of the cars. But I think you will find these to your liking.
(P.S. Thing 1 went with me. She loved it.)
First cars I saw – in the overflow lot! The white one is a Lamborghini Countach.
Oh hi, Lamborghini Miura. Just casually hanging out in the overflow lot…
Godzilla
CTS-V wagon! Beast!
Spyker C8 Spyder
LOOK at that interior!
Especially those pedals!
Chevy Bel Air
This 1969 Corvette Stingray is one of 3 that was provided to the Apollo 12 astronauts. Aka the “AstroVette.”
(Please note: if you look closely, you can see Thing 1’s reflection.)
427 cubic inch Turbo-Jet V8, 390 hp, 460 lb/ft. And for you My Cousin Vinny fans – it has Positraction!! 😀
Words to live by…
Matte black Corvette Z06.
I am such a sucker for matte these days.
John Eagle European’s own Sonny Morgan is the proud owner of this lovely Cougar.
Stop telling me the Red MINI is too low to the ground.
Isn’t this awesome? Just happened to see it driving off. UPDATE: This is a Hudson race car from Dick’s Classic Garage in San Marcos, Texas. Thank you to the reader who pointed this out in the comments!
BMW Alpina rally car and Lotus Elise – great final view!
I thought that Stingray looked familiar. Apollo 12 Lunar Module Pilot (LMP) Al Bean. It’s awesome when two great things (cars & space) come together!
the white car with the thermon and great race stickers is NOT a ford -it is a Hudson race car — it’s from dick’s classic garage & museum in san marcos, texas
the museum also has a Tucker!
Oooh, thanks for that! What I get for showing up late. I’ll update the post – and add a link!
