Le Racing Weekend * UPDATED*
Happiness is race weekend, and we’ve got a doozy coming up. This weekend marks the season opener of the 2014 Pirelli World Challenge, with the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg (Florida, not Russia). As I may have mentioned once, or perhaps twenty times, I love the Pirelli World Challenge – some of my absolute favorite sports car racing. And this season will be even better than usual, with new cars such as McLaren and Lamborghini. Yes, happy day. You can watch live streaming of the race (I love these people!) here on both Saturday and Sunday. You know that’s what I’ll be doing!
As if that weren’t enough, the second race of the Formula 1 season is taking place in Malaysia on Sunday. NBC Sports will broadcast qualifying at 4 a.m. on Saturday and the race at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday. That sucks. I’ll be up, though – at least on Sunday – and will be “broadcasting” the race on my Twitter feed, which you can find at the bottom of my blog or here. After the race, I’ll do a recap in Twitter-verse, which you can read at your leisure, after a good night’s sleep. You’re welcome.
ALSO – the World Endurance Championship drivers will be at Paul Ricard Circuit in France for the Prologue, the endurance testing for the FIA WEC season (similar to the Roar at Daytona). Holy crap, I am going to get so behind on my Twitter feed.
Can’t wait!
UPDATE: In my haste, I neglected to mention that IndyCar has its season debut at St. Pete this weekend as well. Slightly worth a mention. Ah, details…
