MotoGP – Sunday
Okay, okay, I take it all back. ALL racing is fabulous, whether two wheels or four. The races today (I caught MotoGP2 and MotoGP) were fast and loud; in other words, awesome. Number 93 Marc Marquez dominated the MotoGP race and brought home the win, followed by Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso. All three are younger and thinner than me. I obviously have a lot of catching up to do.
GP2 lines up for the start.
Your pole-sitter.
P2 and P3.
And they’re off! Several riders wiped out on Turn 1. Ah, well…happens.
Speaking of Turn 1 – it’s a hairy devil.
And the final turn – always a good photo opp.
Rapido.
Meanwhile, the MotoGP guys got ready for the big show…
The soon-to-be-winning bike gets a little TLC in Marc Marquez’ garage.
Marc Marquez on the grid!
And they’re off without incident!
They’re always sticking out limbs for, like, downforce and stuff.
A blurry Marquez goes by at the speed of light.
This finch could not be bothered by those two-wheeled beasts. Bad-ass finch.
Wave to the finch!
Oh, yeah. The parking lot wasn’t bad, either.
And that, friends, is my MotoGP weekend.
Don’t think that is all, though. I am currently following the IndyCar race in Long Beach, and will be tuning in to the Pirelli World Challenge race (also at Long Beach) in about an hour. Racing weekends are the best!
That finch is my hero! Anybody can go fast on a motorcycle. Some faster than others, apparently. But who can be a finch but a finch? Nice shot, BTW.
I’ll second the motion: Nice shot. Also, thanks for bringing motorcycle racing to your site! You are quite the eclectic racing fan. How do you feel about air racing? (http://www.airrace.org)
If it goes fast, I’m all for it! I don’t discriminate against land, air or sea.
One of these days, I’ll bore you to tears with stories of my experiences with the Hopp hydroplane racing team (http://www.hoppracing.com/) in Seatlle…
