Grace, At Speed

Somewhere in the whirlwind of the last few months, a most delightful announcement took place that makes me excited for 2016, girl power, and the future of motorsports in general. Ordinarily I would have been shouting this from the heavens on the same day, but I’ve been a little behind…

On May 29, 2016, the Indianapolis 500 will run for the 100th time. That in itself is historic. Just as historic, and frankly even more exciting…Grace Autosport will field the first all-female racing team.

Run by Beth Paretta, formerly of SRT Motorsports (I met Paretta at least year’s Lone Star Le Mans while cheering on the SRT Viper to victory, and enjoy following her on Twitter – I think I would like to be her when I grow up), and featuring driver Katherine Legge, recently of DeltaWing Racing, the Grace Autosport team consists of motorsports heavy-hitters, proof that this effort is much more than a publicity stunt. This is a real racing team that means business. For a race fan like me, the only thing that could possibly be more exciting is if they let me hang out in the pits with them. Hey, Grace Autosport…need a blogger??

Crain’s Detroit Business has a great new article on Grace here.  And here is Racer’s article from May 15, the day of the announcement. And don’t forget to “like” the team on Facebook!

Look for me at Indy on May 29, 2016, attempting “grace.” (After all, that IS the meaning of my name!)

Talk about Strong Women!
